Ingredients:
- 250g of whole wheat flour
- 125ml of water
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1 tbsp of oil (optional)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Rolling pin
- Flat skillet
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cup
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt, mixing well.
- Gradually add water to the flour mixture, kneading until a soft dough forms. If desired, incorporate oil for added richness.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15 minutes to allow the gluten to relax.
- Divide the dough into equal portions, approximately 2 pieces for 2 servings.
- Dust a clean surface with flour and roll each portion into a smooth ball.
- Using a rolling pin, flatten each ball into a thin circle, ensuring it’s even throughout.
- Preheat the flat skillet over medium-high heat and place one rolled chapatti onto the skillet.
- Cook for about 30 seconds, or until small bubbles form on the surface; flip it over and cook for another 30 seconds until golden spots appear.
- Press down on the chapatti gently with a spatula to encourage puffing.
- Remove the chapatti from the skillet and keep it warm in a cloth, repeating the process for the remaining dough.
